VaultSeek is a local-first AI semantic search app for your PDFs, docs, and text files. Instead of searching by exact keywords, VaultSeek helps you find local files by meaning. Search for “how to manage investment risk” and it can surface notes about portfolio rebalancing, cash flow, stop-loss rules, or asset allocation — even if those exact words are not in your query. powered by a compact local ONNX embedding model, and designed for privacy-first workflows. Your files stay on your machine.
Hey Product Hunt,
I built VaultSeek because my own notes became impossible to search.
I had hundreds of Markdown files, PDFs, drafts, technical notes, research documents, and random folders scattered across my laptop. The problem was not that I had no knowledge — the problem was that I could not find it when I needed it.
Traditional search only works when you remember the exact keyword. But human memory does not work that way. I usually remember the meaning, not the filename.
So I built VaultSeek: a local-first AI semantic search app for personal files.
The current version focuses on the Retrieval part of RAG: fast local indexing, semantic search, preview, and opening the original file quickly. It supports Markdown, TXT, PDF, and DOCX files, runs locally, and keeps your data on your machine.
Built with Rust + Tauri, powered by a compact local ONNX embedding model, and designed for people who want to reclaim their digital knowledge without uploading everything to the cloud.
