Hi Product Hunt — I built GaokaoExam.org. Most people outside China meet the Gaokao as a number: millions of students, years of preparation, and one exam carrying an enormous amount of pressure. Those facts matter, but they still keep the experience at a distance. I wanted to make it tangible. The question that started this project was simple: “Could I survive a real Gaokao paper?” It sounded playful at first. Building it made me much more serious. One missing condition, mistranslated symbol, or inaccurate diagram can turn a difficult math question into the wrong question. I didn’t want to build a polished quiz on top of shaky material. So every English question is tied to reviewed source material. The translations went through two recorded machine review passes, and I personally reviewed and signed off all 21 English translations. This is still an independent project—not an official government edition or official answer key. I also didn’t want to fake certainty. Objective answers can be checked automatically, but written proofs stay clearly marked for human review instead of receiving an invented score. You can try one real question, take a 10-minute challenge, or sit the full 120-minute paper. If you try it, I’d love to know: did the Gaokao feel different from what you imagined?
