Let me share the motivation that drove me to build Yoki. After a 13-year career in banking, I’ve spent the last 2 years transitioning into Software QA and Testing. Following a 6-month hands-on experience at a tech firm, I shifted my focus to heavy self-study and building my own projects at home. Working solo, I used to create incredibly detailed, hourly schedules for myself—only to realize that following them strictly was practically impossible. Even when I tried the popular "keep your planning simple" advice, I kept hitting the same wall: life is just full of unexpected distractions. The first rule of creativity in literature and cinema is simple: "Start with your own struggle." Yoki’s story began exactly there. Standard planners only send you soulless, robotic push notifications. In the middle of that endless notification bombardment, I realized I had completely tuned them out—just swiping them away into the trash without a second thought. I needed something that would actually grab my attention, something that would shake me up. That’s when it hit me: What if I built an assistant that nudges me like a witty coworker in the office? An assistant that would relentlessly call me out on Telegram whenever I slacked off or forgot a task? That's how Yoki was born.

Comment highlights

For a long time, I struggled to stay focused on—and systematically track—the tasks I needed to complete, despite trying various planners. Finally, I stumbled upon an app that motivates me throughout the day with its intriguing reminders. The fact that it also reminds me of my cat is an added bonus! Thanks, Yokicat!
