Wobbli is an open-source avatar for AI chat apps. It reads while an answer streams, celebrates when it lands and slumps when a source fails: 39 states, 191 animations, a face for every name. Design yours in the studio, then add it with npm or shadcn.
Hi Product Hunt, I'm Hendrik. I build AI tools for work, and for fun.
Every AI assistant I built had the same face: a spinner. Users couldn't tell whether it was searching, stuck or done. So I gave mine an avatar that acts it out. It reads while the answer streams, digs through data during a query, cheers when the answer lands and slumps when a source fails.
Wobbli is that avatar, open source:
39 states with five ways to act each, driven by the events your agent already sends
a face for every name, the same in every app
React, a web component, or any framework; a shadcn registry item
mouth, hands and opt-in holiday costumes, and it respects reduced motion
The faces come from Blobatar by Alain (MIT). Wobbli adds the states, the event machine and the studio.
Try this: drop your name, or your agent's, in the comments and I'll reply with its Wobbli. And tell me which state is missing: I'll build the most-asked ones this week.
