I built VisualMD because I love Markdown, but I always felt something was missing: long documents are powerful, yet they are hard to explore and organize.
I wanted to create a workspace where Markdown files could have a visual structure — tree outlines, mind maps, and different ways to understand the same content — while keeping the simplicity and portability of Markdown.
VisualMD also brings AI-assisted writing and Git-based history into the workflow, making documents easier to create, improve, and maintain.
It’s fully open-source, local-first, and free.
