"Hi Product Hunt! 👋
The idea for Turnout came from the frustration of coordinating hangouts with friends, even though we live in the same city. We’d try to plan something, and a 50-message thread later, the plan would just... vanish.
We realized that modern relationships require a bit of structure to survive the 'busyness' of life. We wanted a way to know who’s actually free without being invasive, and a place to keep the good times alive long after the hangout is over.
Turnout fixes the coordination layer:
🧑🤝🧑 Works at both levels — one-on-one friendships and full crews. Each friend pair gets a personal circle; each group gets its own shared space.
🗓️ Availability that finds the overlap — share when you're free (one-time or recurring), and Turnout surfaces when you and your friends are free at the same time. No more "when works for you?" threads.
🔍 Discovery feed — see hangouts your friends are hosting/attending, all in one place. Someone planning a birthday or posting an open invite to go grab coffee? It shows up here. Jump in if you're free.
🌍 Time zones handled — times are anchored to each person's timezone and shown in the viewer's local zone. London and New York both see the right time.
🎉 Host and plan events — create hangouts, send invites, track RSVPs, run polls to settle where and when, and keep a shared memory wall of photos and videos after.
⚡ Spontaneous hangouts — post a last-minute hangout that's active for 4 hours. No scheduling, no planning — just "I'm free now, who wants to join me?"
🔁 Recurring hangouts — set up weekly, biweekly, or monthly hangouts in one tap. Friends can RSVP to a single session or the whole series.
🔔 Nudges — send a lightweight "want to hang out?" to a specific friend. It creates a pending hangout they can accept or decline.
📋 Bucket lists — shared lists of things you want to do together, with upvotes and status tracking. Turn a wishlist idea into a hangout with one tap.
📅 Calendar sync — add any hangout to your calendar with one tap, so it lands on your actual schedule.
🏆 A little gamification — earn XP, streaks, and achievements for showing up. Because good friendships deserve a nudge.
We are excited about getting users to try the app, we think it would help reduce planning friction and would be a fun way for people to stay connected with loved one.
I’d love to know: what’s the biggest hurdle for your friend group when trying to get together? Let's chat and see if turnout has that covered!!! 👇"
Finally an app that doesn't make me do the math on who can actually make it across time zones. The shared bucket list feature is a nice touch for keeping track of stuff we keep saying we'll do.
