What inspired me to build this?
Every QR scanner I tried did the same thing — decode and open. No questions asked. But QR codes are everywhere now: restaurant menus, parking meters, flyers, packages. And scammers know that. A short URL behind a QR code can redirect through five domains before landing on a phishing page, and your phone's camera won't tell you any of that.
What problem was I trying to solve?
The gap between scanning a code and knowing what it actually leads to. I wanted a scanner that follows every redirect, shows you the final destination and domain age, checks safety, and even summarizes the page — all before you tap open.
How did the approach evolve?
It started as a scanner with basic link checking. Then I kept running into short URLs that hid their real destination, so I built the redirect tracer. Domain age came next after noticing how many scam sites are days old. The AI summaries were the last addition — once you know a link is safe, you still don't know if it's worth your time. Each feature came from a real frustration, not a roadmap.
