The Last 5% came from a very unglamorous habit of mine: being way too optimistic about my phone battery.
I’ve gone out thinking “8% should probably be fine,” and then ended up with a dead phone before I could send a quick update or tell someone where I was.
It’s not a huge life problem. Just a small, surprisingly annoying one that kept happening.
So I made The Last 5% — an iPhone app that automatically sends your location and a custom message to a chosen contact when your battery hits 5%.
It started as a Japanese-only app, and I recently added English support and made it free so more people can use it.
I’m not a traditional engineer, so I built this with a lot of help from AI. Would love to hear your thoughts and feedback!
