Every song in the playlist holds your tempo. Pick a BPM, genre and era, or let Live mode read your steps (phone or Apple Watch) and lock the music to how you move: Walk, Run, Hike, Golf, Bike, Snow and Skate. Golf times your swing. Bike and Snow read a recorded ride and shape the tempo to the terrain. 2.5 million+ tempo-verified tracks, growing daily. Saves to Apple Music, YouTube Music or Tidal. Free on iOS, Android and web.
Hey Product Hunt, Dion here, solo designer and dev.
Tempo Tunes started on a mountain bike. Every "workout playlist" out there drifts all over the tempo map, one song at 165 BPM and the next at 92, and the flow of the ride dies with it. So tempo became the input instead of an afterthought: set a BPM, pick genres, artists or an era you actually like, and every song in the playlist holds that tempo. Tolerance decides how strict it is, an Obscure to Popular slider decides deep cuts or hits, and tempo shapes (Steady, Rise, Bell, Fade) curve a whole playlist instead of holding one flat number.
Since the first launch it grew legs, which is why 1.3 is back here. Live mode reads your steps and motion (phone or Apple Watch) and locks the music to how you are actually moving, for Walk, Run, Hike, Golf, Bike, Snow and Skate. Golf mode times your practice swing and finds your swing tempo. Bike and Snow take a recorded ride and shape the tempo to the terrain, climbs at one BPM and descents at another. Listen identifies whatever is playing and tells you its BPM.
Under all of it is a library of 2 million+ tempo-verified tracks, growing daily, analyzed by our own tempo engine. That was 90% of the work.
The look is half the fun: old school cassettes and J-cards, a throwback brown-and-gold palette borrowed from the classic San Diego Padres, and a wave logo that does the wave while your playlist builds. The whole thing traces back to a yellow Sony Sports Walkman worn out as a kid.
Save any playlist to Apple Music, YouTube Music or Tidal. Spotify is invite-only for now (their rules require 250k monthly users before an app can open up; hit that number and the door opens).
It's free. Tell me what tempo you ride, run, walk or lift at, and what's missing.
Stay in Tempo with Tempo Tunes.
