Hey everyone - I’m Patrick, the creator of Tastemaker. This started from a pretty simple frustration. As a creative, I rely heavily on visual references, but most tools I tried either pushed content through algorithms or required accounts and cloud syncing just to function. It felt like everyone was sourcing inspiration from the same well... I wanted a space where I could actually store references and curate on my own terms. I didn’t want another feed. I didn’t want recommendations. I just wanted a space where I could collect and arrange visuals on my own terms. So I built Tastemaker. The goal was to create something fast, local, and distraction-free. A tool where you can drop in references, organize them freely, and stay focused without anything interfering with your process. No algorithm shaping what you see. No accounts. No tracking. Everything runs locally on your machine. What started as a personal tool ended up growing a lot more than I expected - with over 25,000 downloads and thousands of creators using it today. The attention for the project pushed me to refine the experience while keeping the core idea intact - simplicity, ownership, and control. Along the way, I added features like flexible organization and a moodboard system for sharing, but I was careful not to let it turn into another bloated platform. The challenge was always knowing what not to add. Tastemaker is free and built to stay that way for individuals. Would love to hear what you think, and how you’d use something like this in your workflow
