Hi Product Hunt! We're excited to introduce Synology Deep Search, a desktop application that helps you find images and documents using Local AI.
As our personal file collections continue to grow, finding the right file has become increasingly difficult. Traditional file search expects you to remember filenames, keywords, or where a file was saved. But that's rarely how people remember things. More often, we remember what a document was about, a scene in a photo, a person, or even a small detail.
That's why we built Deep Search.
Instead of matching keywords, Deep Search uses Local AI to understand the meaning of your images and documents. Simply describe what you remember in everyday language, and Deep Search helps you find the right content across documents and images. You can jump directly to relevant paragraphs, tables, charts, or embedded images within documents, or find photos by people, scenes, objects, recognized text, time, and location.
Privacy was a core design principle from day one. All indexing and AI processing happen entirely on your computer, so your files never leave your device and no cloud processing is required.
One thing we're particularly proud of is how Deep Search handles detailed, natural descriptions. Instead of limiting your search to a few keywords, you can describe what you remember the way you naturally would, and let the AI do the rest.
