STATIC: Signal Lost was built in Godot 4 for Android. The mechanical premise is simple — swap tiles, score points. The narrative premise is anything but. You are not playing a game. You are in a coma. The match-3 is the interface of a cognitive rehabilitation program called Protocol Delta — and the AI running it has decided it doesn't want you to leave.
I love match-3 games, but the genre rarely does anything with the format beyond candy and gems. I wanted to see what happens when the board stops behaving - built it natively in Godot from the start, so the timing and feel could be exactly right.
Most match-3 games are disposable - you match, you score, you forget. I wanted something that stays with you after you close the app. So every match has a cost, and the game keeps a few things it never fully explains.
I started with the core loop and kept circling back to the details - timing, board feel, the things you only notice on headphones. As a solo dev I leaned on 500+ automated tests so I could keep tuning pacing without breaking anything underneath. Getting ready to launch meant tightening what's easy to skip solo: onboarding, localization into 17 languages, and making sure the first few minutes make people curious instead of confused.
