GitHub App that auto-creates tech stack docs (YML and Markdown) that list out the full tech stack of a repo including: open source, closed source, SaaS, and infrastructure, with metadata about each tool. Like an auto-updating tech stack README file.
We're excited to announce a new tech stack data file format! The first application we're launching to use this new file is a GitHub App that auto-documents your tech stacks for you ✨
There's a lot of manual tech stack documentation going on right now on GitHub (some examples here: https://github.com/search?q=%22t...). It's tedious and even really sophisticated orgs like Shopify do it for some of their repos. The GitHub App we're launching today is the easiest way to get automated tech stack docs for all your repos with a few clicks. You get a data file (techstack.yml), a visualization file (techstack.md), and a README snippet for each of your repos. AND the files are updated once per week to account for any tech stack changes. We'd love to hear your feedback on this!
Congratulations to the team on the launch! The product looks fantastic, and I'm eagerly anticipating the opportunity to try it out!
Congrats Team Stack File on your recent Launch! It's great to see you guys providing such innovative tools which make developer's life easier. I love the automatic update feature of the tech stack README's. My suggested improvement would definitely be to incorporate a specific section for challenges developers might face with certain tools in the stack, supported by real-time updates or user experiences. Keep up with your fantastic work!
Wow, this is awesome.
Does it work for private repos?
I am definitely going to add this to a few of my repos to test it out.
Congratulations on the launch. Eagerly looking forward to trying out your product!
