Squash turns video compression into a destination choice. Drop a video, pick Discord, TikTok, YouTube, email, or 30+ more, and Squash exports the version that actually fits. No codec tuning, no cloud upload, and a free tier that includes every destination.
Hey Product Hunt, I’m Nick, maker of Squash.
I built this because I kept running into the same annoying problem: a video would look fine locally, then fail when I tried to send it somewhere because the file was too big, the aspect ratio was wrong, or the platform wanted a different format. Most tools made me think in codecs, bitrates, and export settings. I wanted a tool that thought in destinations instead.
So Squash works like this: drop a video, choose where it’s going, and it exports the version that actually fits. It handles the practical stuff for you, like file size limits, aspect ratios, codecs, and formats for YouTube, TikTok, Discord, email, and 30+ other destinations.
A few things I cared about while building it:
- It runs locally on your Mac, so your files stay on your device
- The free tier includes every destination and feature
- If your source already matches the destination, Squash can skip a re-encode instead of degrading quality for no reason
macOS is live today, and Windows is coming soon.
I’d especially love feedback on two things:
1. Which destinations or export workflows should I add next?
2. Where does sharing video still feel more frustrating than it should?
Thanks for checking it out!
I always get so mad when Discord blocks an upload due to file size. Going to give this a try!
