Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I’m the maker of Spielcade.
What inspired me to build this?
Honestly, pure nostalgia. I missed the golden era of the internet where you could just open a tab, click a game, and play instantly. Over the years, casual web gaming became a nightmare—bloated with malware, sketchy "download our launcher" buttons, and intrusive pop-ups that killed the fun. I wanted to bring back that zero-friction, instant-gratification feeling.
The problem I was trying to solve:
Finding a safe, fast, and clean place to play HTML5 games on any device. Whether you're on a quick lunch break at work or killing time on your phone, you shouldn't have to risk a virus or sit through five ads just to play a round of Snake.
How my process evolved:
It started as a small weekend project, but curating and optimizing a library of 17,125+ games became a massive technical challenge. I quickly realized that just having a ton of games wasn't enough—performance and UX were everything. I shifted my focus to building a lightning-fast search, categorizing everything into 25+ genres (including unblocked tags for students and office workers), and designing a clean, intuitive UI.
One of my favorite features I added along the way is the "Surprise Me" button. I noticed users (myself included) would sometimes spend more time scrolling than actually playing, so having a one-click way to discover a random game solved that decision paralysis.
We've now grown to 500K+ active players with a 4.9/5 rating, which has been incredible to watch.
