Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I built SleepOff after my Mac went to sleep while an AI agent was working on a long task. I wanted a fast, native way to switch power behavior without digging through settings or leaving the Mac permanently awake. SleepOff lives in the menu bar, offers three configurable profiles and global hotkeys, and clearly returns the system to normal behavior when you are done. It uses public macOS APIs and collects no data. I’m a solo developer, and this is the first release. I’d especially appreciate feedback from people who run AI coding agents, overnight builds, renders, or large downloads: when do you need your Mac to stay awake, and what would make this workflow better?
the display sleep thing is actually super useful for me, i'm always running long builds and hate having my screen stay awake the whole time. menu bar integration is clean too, basically just lives there and doesn't get in the way.
Finally a menu bar tool that actually keeps my builds running without keeping my display blazing. The hotkey switch between profiles is slick and I love that it uses public macOS APIs with zero data collection. Snagged one of those promo codes already.
One thing that would make this even better for me: an idle detection feature that automatically switches back to the default power profile when the system actually finishes the task, like when downloads complete or builds return to 0% CPU. That way I wouldn't have to remember to restore normal behavior myself after a long compile finishes overnight.
Congrats on the launch. The menu bar approach is genuinely useful for those overnight training runs. One thing I'd love to see is a built-in timer or schedule so I can have it auto-revert to my normal profile after, say, 4 hours, in case I forget and leave the system in a quiet state. Would make unattended sessions even safer.
