My father was a ski instructor and ran a ski rental shop in Uludağ. After he passed away, I took over the business and ran it for about three years. During that time, I noticed that Uludağ hadn’t become digital yet. People were still working the old-fashioned way: “Bring your receipt, take your skis”—an unstructured system, with software only just starting to be introduced. That was the first thing I noticed. The second was this: as many people come to ski, just as many come to take pictures. During busy periods, 70 people would be coming in and out of the shop at once. In that rush, I couldn’t give each person the time to choose their own clothing or products. They had to take and wear whatever we gave them, and that made people unhappy. Their unhappiness really bothered me. They were already spending money without even skiing, and on top of that, they were leaving unhappy. That was what inspired me to create the app. Then I realised we were the first digital winter sports app in Türkiye. I wondered what the situation was like in Europe. I think it also became the first app there to bring both equipment and instructors together, and I’m getting really positive engagement. Right now, I just need software development support to turn it from an app for renting skis and booking instructors into a marketplace, because people from all over the world are reaching out to me—instructors, manufacturers, ski wax companies. So I definitely need to turn it into a marketplace if I can get the resources to do so.
