I'm Michael, an indie developer from Ukraine.
The problem: macOS still can't lock a single app. Screen Time, Fast User Switching, FileVault — none of them let you hand your Mac to someone for a minute without also handing over every open app. Apple's own support page says it plainly: "It is not possible to lock apps individually." That's still true in 2026, two macOS releases after iOS got exactly this with iOS 18.
Every "app locker" I tried (AppLocker, MakLock, Cisdem AppCrypt...) works the same way: they draw an overlay on top of the still-running app. The content is technically still there behind the curtain, and some can be bypassed just by force-quitting or switching desktops.
So I built Shoo! differently: when you lock an app, it actually terminates the process. Nothing is running, so there's nothing to peek at, and it re-locks automatically the next time someone tries to open it — Touch ID, Apple Watch, or a backup password.
