Sensium
Blind-tasting coach for wine exams and enthusiasts
Sensium is a blind-tasting coach for sommelier-track tasters and curious enthusiasts. Drill the classic look-alikes, replay your mistakes until they stick, explore a 1,534-grape Atlas, compare any two grapes side by side, and work the deductive grid — a few focused minutes a day. Free to start, on iPhone, Android, and the web.
Hi Product Hunt 👋
I'm Laurent, and I built Sensium while studying for my WSET Level 3 wine exam.
The problem: practising blind tasting on your own is genuinely hard. You can read theory endlessly, but training your palate and actually recalling it under pressure is a different skill — and I couldn't find a tool that drilled it properly. So I built the one I wanted.
Sensium walks the deductive tasting grid, drills the classic look-alikes (Syrah vs Grenache, Pinot Gris vs Grigio, Nebbiolo vs Pinot…), replays the calls you get wrong until they stick, and has an atlas of 1,534 grapes to explore. It's free to start, and runs on iPhone, Android, and the web with no sign-up to try.
One thing that surprised me building it: drilling confusion pairs head-to-head made grape calls click far faster than studying varieties one at a time — so the whole app ended up designed around that.
It won't replace tasting real wine with a group — it's the reps between sessions. That's the part I'd most love feedback on.
If you've ever studied for WSET/CMS or just want to get sharper blind, I'd genuinely value your honest take — including what's rough. Happy to answer anything. 🍷
The side-by-side grape comparison has been saving me during blind tastings this week, and the look-alike drills finally made the difference between Petit Verdot and Malbec click for me.
the deductive grid approach is honestly kind of brilliant for nailing down those tricky look-alikes. I spent a few minutes replaying a pinot vs gamay mistake and it actually clicked this time
