ScrollPause
Break endless scrolling with gentle, timely nudges
**ScrollPause helps you reduce mindless scrolling without blocking apps or locking your phone. Instead of restrictions, it uses gentle interruptions such as interesting facts, trivia, thought-provoking questions, breathing exercises, and random web discoveries to break autopilot scrolling and create moments of awareness. Designed for people who want healthier screen habits without feeling punished, controlled, or forced to quit social media entirely.**
Hi, Product Hunt Makers! 👋
I'm Joginder, maker of ScrollPause.
On most days, I wake up in the morning and reach for my phone, ostensibly just to check important messages and calls. But one thing leads to another, and before I know it, I've spent half an hour scrolling through stuff.
I uninstalled X, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and even Google News. Then I started scrolling them in my web browser.
I tried other apps to address the scrolling issue, but many of them create irritants by locking the phone, making you solve puzzles, or forcing waiting periods. To me, that's more of a hindrance than an interruption.
I started thinking about a different approach.
What if, instead of blocking people from scrolling, we simply distracted them from scrolling?
I love serendipity, trivia, random facts, and discovering interesting things on the internet. That led to ScrollPause.
ScrollPause is a privacy-first Android app that detects endless scrolling and occasionally sends a gentle notification with an interesting thought, quote, fact, question, or breathing exercise. At some point, instead of continuing to scroll, you may feel compelled to click the notification and either explore something random and interesting or take a moment to pause.
The goal is not to punish users or block apps. It is simply to create small moments of awareness and interruption in an otherwise endless loop.
Would love to hear your thoughts:
• Have you tried reducing your scrolling habits?
• What worked and what didn't?
• Would gentle interruptions work better for you than hard restrictions?
Thanks for checking out ScrollPause!
