Today I am launching SafeGen: a local-first credential generation suite that runs in your browser, in your terminal via NPX, and as an MCP server for AI coding agents.
Why SafeGen?
Most quick password generators rely on basic modulo math that introduces subtle statistical bias, or they force you to create a cloud account just to get a temporary test seed. On top of that, developers working with AI tools like Cursor and Claude Code often paste raw database credentials straight into prompt windows.
SafeGen fixes both problems:
1. Mathematical rigor: Built on NIST FIPS 186-5 rejection sampling using the Web Crypto API, guaranteeing zero modulo bias across all charsets.
2. 4 generation engines: Cryptographic passwords, Diceware passphrases (EFF long wordlist), numeric PINs, and lock-screen pattern paths.
3. MCP Human-Approval Bridge: Lets local AI coding agents request credentials dynamically, intercepted by a mandatory local confirmation popup before anything enters the model context.
4. Zero telemetry: Everything runs 100% on your machine. No accounts, no trackers, no cloud servers.
