Write. Rewrite. Revise. Reproof — the writing app for perfectionists. With paragraph versions, clippings to save cut bits for later, side-by-side documents, full-featured markdown and rich text support, selective find and replace, and proofreading, it's built around how writers work. Draft ideas, reword until it clicks, cut the darlings that don't fit, rearrange sections into a better flow, proofread, then paste into any CMS or newsletter app. It's the app to write until you get it right.

Hey Product Hunt! I've been a writer for over a decade and a half, for Zapier, Wirecutter, and more, and for years its bugged me that Google Docs is still built around a virtual piece of paper, yet it's the default writing app for most people today. Writing apps typically are still linear, one paragraph after another, with little space for experimentation (other than just pressing enter a dozen times and adding new paragraphs at the bottom of a document). I wanted a new writing app that let you experiment with your writing, where you could write multiple takes on the same paragraph, then swap between them and see how each take reads in context. I wanted a way to cut bits from my writing and save it for later, when it didn't quite fit in this piece. And I wanted to be able to copy and paste out in any format I needed, anytime, so publishing directly on GitHub, on a newsletter like Buttondown or Substack, or a blog running on WordPress or Ghost was equally easy. Thus Reproof. Never reinvent the text editor, they say, for good reason: It was much harder to get paragraph versions working the way I'd dreamed of than I ever expected. But I'm really, really excited with what we've built, and I hope you like it too. The next time you're writing something and you're stuck on how to word something best, give Reproof a shot. Write what you're thinking, then add a new paragraph version and rewrite it. Try again, and again, and eventually you'll land on something great. Or if you don't, your first takes are still there to roll back to whenever you want. I can't wait to hear how you use it!

Who hunted Reproof?

Reproof was hunted by Matthew Guay. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
