Hi PH! I built Refindo after watching too many people pay for recovery software before knowing whether their files were even recoverable. So the free tier does the real thing: scan the drive, preview every recoverable file, and restore up to 500 MB, all locally on your machine. Nothing uploads anywhere. Would love feedback, especially from anyone who's been through a data-loss scare.
the 500mb free limit is honestly pretty generous, but one thing that would make this a no-brainer for me is adding the ability to pause and resume scans. last time i tried recovering from a 2tb drive the scan took hours and my laptop went to sleep mid-process, which was kind of a nightmare. pretty sure most recovery tools skip this but it would honestly set refindo apart.
honestly the free 500 mb preview is kind of a game changer, makes it easy to actually see what's recoverable before committing. scanned an old sd card and it pulled up photos i thought were gone for years.
It would be really helpful to add a deep scan option that goes beyond the quick recovery pass, especially for older or heavily corrupted drives. A lot of files won't show up in the first scan, so having that option right from the main window would save users from giving up too early.
