We built ReelCast after struggling to turn our daily Mac workflows into clean vertical clips for TikTok, Shorts, and Reels. Traditional screen recorders are optimized for landscape, so we kept wasting time cropping, reframing, and trying to keep the cursor in view.
Instead of adding yet another editing step, we wanted something that followed the way we already work: stay focused on the app in front of you, and let the tool handle framing. That’s why ReelCast automatically tracks your cursor and focus window inside a fixed 9:16 frame, so every capture is already “social ready” the moment you stop recording.
Along the way, we iterated a lot on how aggressive the tracking should be, how smooth the camera movement feels, and how much control creators need versus full automation. The current version is our best balance so far, but we’re launching on Product Hunt to learn from you: what workflows do you use, what platforms do you publish to most, and what would make ReelCast an essential part of your content stack?
