RailMood turns your second screen into a train cab. Pick one of 12 real routes — from the Bernina Express to Tokyo's Yamanote Line to the São Paulo metro — with a live HUD showing speed, local time and the next station. Mix your own soundscape: click-clack, cabin ambience, live radio tuned to the route's country, or the video's original sound. Filter by biome and time of day, or let Continuous Line keep the journey rolling while you focus.
Hi Product Hunt! 👋
I've always liked imersion focused sites that sources from youtube content, like drive and listen, and I thought it would be cool to have a train version of it.
So I built RailMood. It wraps real cab-ride footage from 12 routes around the world (Norwegian fjords, the Swiss Alps, Tokyo's Yamanote loop, the São Paulo metro, the NYC subway…) with immersion features like:
🚉 A live HUD — simulated speed, local time in the route's timezone, and the next station coming up
🎚️ An audio mixer — train mechanics, cabin ambience, the video's original sound, and a radio that tunes to real stations from the route's country
🌄 Filters by biome and time of day (snow, tropical, urban, high-speed / day, dusk, night, rain)
♾️ Continuous Line mode, so the journey never stops
It's free, runs in the browser, and works in English and Portuguese. I'd love to hear which route you ride first — and which routes I should add next!
Would love a "morning commute" preset that starts a familiar route at a set time each weekday so the screen just feels alive when I sit down. Bonus if it could pull the actual delay announcements from the real line when available.
Tried the Bernina line and the cabin ambience mixed with Swiss radio was genuinely calming, like a proper escape from my desk. The speed HUD makes it feel less like a wallpaper and more like you're actually riding.
