Like many PHP developers, I regularly work on projects that require different PHP versions. Switching between them often meant downloading archives, editing PATH variables, and spending more time configuring my machine than writing code.
I wanted the PHP ecosystem to have the same smooth experience that tools like nvm provide for Node.js.
So I built PVM—an open source, cross-platform PHP Version Manager for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

A built-in doctor command to diagnose common issues like PATH conflicts or missing Visual C++ redistributables on Windows would save a ton of debugging time for new users trying to get up and running.
PVM is actively maintained and evolving.
