Hey y’all! As an ECE major at The University of Texas, I’ve had to work a lot with designing PCB boards between classes and clubs and side projects. Typically I defaulted to using KiCad because that’s what was most accessible to me, and most of the alternatives were either crazy expensive or lackluster in their feature sets. While KiCad is a fully functional software, I realized I was wasting hours of time on tasks that could be easily automated with modern upgrades. For the past few months I’ve been working on ProtoFlow to solve these issues. I’ve essentially given KiCad a modern facelift, and have added tools to it that drastically reduce the amount of time it takes to design schematics (such as universal component search and automatic wire cleanup). Additionally, I’ve incorporated an AI driven assistant within the software to help create new schematics based on a prompt alone, or edit an editing schematic for accuracy. I’ve shared this software with friends and professors at UT, and they’ve had nothing but positive reviews about how much time and effort this has saved them. I thought I’d share the software here too - it’s free to use and I’d love any feedback y’all could give me.

Who hunted ProtoFlow?

ProtoFlow was hunted by Ayden. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
