AI makes it easy to build a website. The awkward part comes afterwards: the client wants to change a headline, add a post, or update an image without opening a coding agent.
Prelo gives that site a familiar editing studio. You keep your frontend, define the content model in cms.config.js, and hand the client a login. The site, studio, and REST API can run in one Node process with SQLite and local uploads, or you can use it headlessly.
For developers: scoped agent API keys, an audit log, version-matched CLI docs, and AGENTS.md in the starter project. A Prelo plugin is a Markdown spec your agent implements into your own code.
This is an early, deliberately small CMS for client sites. Other CMSs offer richer editorial workflows; Prelo's focus is a simple code-to-client handover. It's free and MIT licensed. You provide the hosting and persistent storage. No AI subscription is needed for clients to edit content.
