Predictify turns your football knowledge into a game. Predict match scores across 53 leagues and compete against other players. While standard season-long leagues are implemented, the main feature here is a weekly ELO-based ranked mode. No betting, no money, just a fun way of showing off your football knowledge.
I played Fantasy Football games for 10 years, but then family life kicked in. It became far too time-consuming for me and I had to quit. It was my favorite way of interacting with football, but I just didn't have time for it anymore.
Then I tried prediction games. They were fun for a while, but never really hooked me, because there isn't much to do except predicting results for the same few games week after week.
After years of designing competitive structures and tournament formats in esports, I decided I wanted to build something different. An app that lets you interact with football in a way that isn't too time-consuming, but that also takes football knowledge and makes it competitive.
In addition to the standard season-long game modes that can be played across 53 real-life leagues, I built Arena - a weekly game mode with a fully integrated ELO rating system and rankings from Amateur to GOAT.
Those are just the MVP features. I plan to add more weekly/biweekly game modes that take a completely different angle on interacting with football.
I'm a construction worker who worked on this idea for a year. I wrote down the whole idea in detail - every mechanic, every screen flow, every button, every formula. I paid an agency to create the design. I had everything except the code.
With no money to pay someone to build it for me, it sat in a drawer for a while. But then, with the progress of AI, the time finally came when I could make it myself.
So after 4 months of intense work, the app is finally released, and I would really love to hear your thoughts on the whole thing.
respect the solo build, especially the construction-worker-to-shipped-app path. the thing I'd want to understand about arena mode though: with no stakes, what stops the top of the ELO leaderboard from just being whoever picks the statistically safest score every time (1-1, 2-1) rather than whoever actually reads form and injuries best? in fantasy football your team composition forces some real decision-making, but a score guess is a much lower-friction action to spam correctly.
weekly ELO ranked mode is a smart call instead of just a season-long table, keeps it interesting even if you have a bad week. 53 leagues is a lot of data entry/scoring to keep accurate though - are you pulling fixtures and results from a live sports data API or maintaining that manually?
I hate fantasy and I suck at money betting, so this comes as a perfect replacement… love the multiplayer element as well so I’ll be keeping a close eye on this one.
The ELO-based weekly ranked mode sounds like a really smart way to keep things competitive without the season commitment. Glad it's just for bragging rights too, makes the whole thing way more chill.
