I built PlusEV because I kept folding hands I knew were raises.
That is not a knowledge problem. I had read the charts. But at the table,
with chips in front of me and a few seconds to act, the right answer did not
arrive fast enough, and I played the hand I felt instead of the one I knew.
Poker study tools are built for the knowing half. Solvers give you an answer
to look up. Courses explain why the answer is right. Neither one makes you
produce it under pressure.
So PlusEV is a gym rather than a library. It deals you real 6-max preflop
spots, scores your answer against the solver solution, and feeds every miss
into a spaced repetition queue. The hands you get right fade out. The hands
you get wrong keep coming back until they stop being wrong.
We measured whether that works rather than assuming it. Across 1,043,612
hands of post-training play, intermediate cash players improved by +0.061 BB
per hand after 30 days. The methodology, sample definition and exclusions are
all in the case study on the site.
