Images that won't open anywhere, fixed in one drop. PlainJPG converts WebP, HEIC and AVIF to plain JPG or PNG on Windows 10 and 11. Drop a whole folder (subfolders included) or right-click any image in File Explorer. The date taken, camera, GPS and the file's own dates are kept, so albums stay sorted, and nothing ever leaves your PC: no upload, no account, no file limits. Free for 25 images, then $15 once for 2 PCs.

Hi Product Hunt!

Browsers now save WebP, iPhones shoot HEIC and newer sites serve AVIF, but plenty of programs, upload forms and print shops still only take JPG or PNG. The usual fix is an online converter: upload your photos, wait, hit a daily limit, and get files back with the date taken and location stripped.

PlainJPG does it on your Windows PC instead:

  • Drop a whole folder (subfolders included) or right-click any image in File Explorer

  • Keeps the date taken, camera, GPS and orientation, plus the file's own dates, so albums stay sorted

  • Nothing leaves the PC: no upload, no account, no file limits

  • Free for 25 images, then $15 once for 2 PCs, also on the Microsoft Store

I'd love your feedback on two things: which other image formats you run into, and what you'd want it to do once a folder is converted.
