I’m Bartu, the maker of Pet Garden.
I built this app because I wanted a cozy and aesthetic way to keep cute animals right on my home screen while I use my phone.
With Pet Garden, you can scan a photo of any animal and turn it into a digital icon. But instead of just keeping them inside the app, you bring them to your iOS ecosystem.
Here is what you can do:
📱 Widgets: Place your pets on your Home Screen and customize their frames.
🏝 Dynamic Island: Keep your pets active on your Dynamic Island via Live Activities.
🍖 Care & Streaks: Feed them daily to build a streak and unlock special ambiances (like the Sakura effect).
Under the hood ⚙️:
I built the app using React Native, but the real challenge was the seamless data flow between the app and the iOS components. I used App Group Containers and wrote custom Swift native modules to handle the Widget and Dynamic Island communication efficiently.
