Hi Product Hunt, I'm Piyush, a solo founder.
I've been thinking about when privacy comes back to the centre of this whole AI phase. I think a lot of people are going to care where their data goes once the rush settles, so I started building for that: Confidant, a family of privacy-first apps - https://yourconfidant.ai/.
Penny is the first.
Every money app I tried wanted my bank login and sent my transactions through an aggregator's servers. Penny works the other way round. You export a statement from your bank, PDF or CSV, and open it in Penny. It detects the bank (21 UK, US and Indian banks so far), categorises every transaction on the phone, learns from your corrections, and finds the subscriptions you forgot about. Add what you own and owe, in any currency, and it holds your net worth on the same phone. Then ask it things in plain English: "which subscriptions am I not using?", "can I splurge this month?", "how's my emergency fund?", or just "roast me".
The AI is Apple's on-device model. No cloud, no usage cap. No account, no server, no analytics. The App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected", and it's literal.
The test I'd ask you to run: airplane mode on, import a statement, ask it something. Everything still works.
Honest limits: the chat needs an iPhone 15 Pro or newer (older phones get everything except free-form chat). iOS only. Some bank layouts will break the parser; tell me which bank and I'll fix it.
Free, no ads. If I add paid features later they'll be things you pay for directly, and the private core stays free.
On-device is how I keep the promise today. Years from now it might be an open-source model on a disk you own. The mechanism will change. The promise won't.
