PD Measure
Measure your pupillary distance in seconds — 100% private
Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I built PD Measure after noticing something frustrating: to order glasses online you need your pupillary distance, but most "free" PD tools are lead-capture funnels for glasses retailers — they make you sign up, push you toward a purchase, or quietly upload your selfie to their servers.
PD Measure is the opposite:
🔒 100% client-side — face-landmark detection runs in your browser (MediaPipe). Your photo never leaves your device. There's no server to upload to.
📷 Three ways to measure — guided webcam capture with a multi-frame confidence score, photo upload with a credit card for scale, or a printable true-to-scale ruler if you'd rather skip the camera entirely.
👓 Everything opticians ask for — total PD, monocular (dual) PD, and near PD for reading glasses, exportable as a PDF you can hand to any retailer.
🆓 No signup, no email, no upsell. It even works offline. The code is open source on GitHub.
It's genuinely free because measuring your PD shouldn't cost your data. I'd love your feedback — especially on measurement accuracy across different devices and lighting. Ask me anything!
Took it for a quick spin with the photo method and got a reading in seconds, no fiddling with credit cards or magnetic cards. Really appreciate that everything happens locally.
The fact that it runs entirely in the browser with no upload or app required is genuinely thoughtful, especially for something as privacy-sensitive as a face photo. The printable ruler fallback is a nice touch too.
Love how everything runs in the browser with zero uploads, that kind of privacy-first thinking is rare for vision tools and clearly took real effort to pull off.
How accurate is the webcam method compared to the actual PD my optometrist measures? I’ve seen similar tools give slightly different numbers and I’m curious how you handle things like screen size or camera angle in the calculation.
Love that it works straight in the browser with no app or signup. The ruler fallback is a really thoughtful touch for anyone without a webcam handy.
Finally a way to measure my PD without making an account or installing anything. The webcam method worked first try on my laptop and the whole thing felt private.

Who hunted PD Measure?
PD Measure was hunted by Syed Aqib. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
