PATANYX started with a pretty simple frustration: privacy browsers often still expect users to assemble their protection from extensions, accounts, settings, and third-party services.
I wanted to see how much of that could be built directly into the browser instead.
So PATANYX grew around a local-first approach: built-in ad and tracker blocking, cleaner links, Fingerprint Divergence, encrypted local storage, on-device translation, session-scoped permissions, and other protections that don’t require an account.
I also made a deliberate choice not to support traditional browser extensions for now. Extensions are incredibly useful, but they also introduce a large third-party attack surface. I’d rather build more functionality in-house first and be very selective if extension support comes later.
The browser is built primarily in Rust and uses WebView2 on Windows and WebKitGTK on Linux. Core privacy protections stay free, while Premium adds tools aimed more at researchers and power users.
PATANYX is independently built through EdgeXene, and this is the first stable release.
I’d genuinely like feedback from people who care about browser privacy and security. If something feels unclear, awkward, incomplete, or simply wrong, I want to hear it.
To celebrate the stable release, EdgeXene is launching “Spot PATANYX. Unlock Premium,” a limited promotion running from September 21 through October 5, 2026.
Participants can photograph or film a PATANYX digital ad and share their original capture on social media, tagging PATANYX or EdgeXene. Participants may also message or e-mail a link to their post to [email protected] for quicker responses.
The first 100 eligible entries verified under the promotion will receive three months of PATANYX Premium.
