I built OwnSlides because learning a language always ended up scattered across five different apps — one for lessons, one for flashcards, one for a tutor, one to (nervously) find a real person to talk to. Nothing tied it together, and the jump from "studying alone" to "actually speaking" was terrifying.
So OwnSlides is one platform for the whole loop, across 91 languages:
- Learn — a CEFR curriculum with a personalised AI study plan built around your level and the time you have.
- Practice with AI — text and voice tutors that score your pronunciation, grammar, vocab, and fluency, then hand you a scorecard of what you've mastered and what to revisit.
- Practice with real people — blind call matching for instant random partners, plus scheduled audio rooms with friends or classmates. The AI is there to build your confidence before you speak with humans.
- Interactive exercises with native audio, SRS vocab review, a community dictionary, and an AI translator — most of the learner side is free.
- And if you teach, you can build a full lesson from a topic in minutes and publish it to your students (or your audience).
There's also Langle, a free daily "guess the language" game, if you just want to play first. 🎯
