4 years ago, we started talking to engineering teams about how they solve authorization. We realized every business in the world has an authorization problem. Although it is a critical element of all software, it’s unrelated to the core features or business logic that engineers are working on. Some engineering teams wind up pouring millions of dollars building bespoke authorization systems, taking time away from customer-facing initiatives. Authorization is challenging because there is no standardized approach. What’s more, nobody got out of bed to think about roles and permissions – except us. This is why we built Oso. With this new release We’re launching new capabilities to help developers learn about authorization, get started with Oso, and integrate Oso into their existing feedback loops. * Oso getting started flow, to help every developer get up to speed on authorization * The option to run Oso locally to run on your laptop before you deploy * Policy testing, which aligns to many developer’s Test-Driven-Development ethos * Workbench, a tool to visually configure your authz model We're excited to hear your feedback!

Really a big fan of Oso and what they are building. Every business has a common challenge, no matter what they do - it's the issue of authorization. Authorization in applications is all about managing control and access, so that the appropriate user has proper permissions and access to information. Authorization is something every business struggles with, but few have the resources or desire to solve on their own. This is why Graham and Sam built Oso They're doing for authorization and RBAC what Okta did for authentication 10 years ago. Everyone from startups to the Fortune 2000 — including Productboard, Intercom, Wayfair, Codecademy and thousands of others — use Oso because it lets them move 10x faster and cut risk 10x. I'm excited for the team's launch and fundraising announcement today and look forward to see where they take the authorization engine.
Wow! What an amazing product! I'm curious to know - what are some of the most valuable features that Oso Cloud provides? Also, what makes it stand out from other similar products? Looking forward to hearing more!
We started using Oso in the last month or so and we are all absolutely loving it. So powerful, yet easy to use.
Big fans of Oso here at Intercom, it flawlessly powers some pretty gnarly authorization requirements across our web application and APIs at large scale. I can strongly recommend Oso to companies who struggle with building out/ maintain consistent, scalable and reliable permissions systems in their applications. Migrating our authorization system to Oso has removed entire classes of bug reports and inconsistencies in our product.
Such an important problem to solve and (IMO) the approach Oso are taking is really the only one that is viable. Congrats on the launch @samoso @francium 👏
I tried Oso and met the team and I'm a huge believer in their approach. Authorization is a widely misunderstood and often mis-engineered but crucial functionality that deserves dedicated, domain-specific tools such as Polar (their DSL) and all the supporting features. Very cool to see all the progress and huge congrats on the launch!
We're so excited to be part of this vision to bring authorization to the next billion developers. For those who are having issues watching the video, see the walkthrough demo of Oso here: https://youtu.be/bLo85-WaXPA
