OpenCairn
Open-source AI knowledge OS for notes, docs, and agents
OpenCairn is an open-source AI knowledge OS that turns notes, documents, and web sources into a connected workspace for search, answers, writing, and agent workflows. Unlike a simple note app or chatbot, it is built for source-grounded knowledge work: ingest files, ask questions with context, trace answers back to sources, generate artifacts, and run workflows across your workspace. It is self-hostable, multi-LLM friendly, and designed for control over your data and tools.
Hi Product Hunt, I’m building OpenCairn because my own knowledge work kept getting split across notes, PDFs, web pages, chat threads, and code.
I wanted something more useful than another note app and more controllable than a closed AI workspace: a self-hostable knowledge OS where AI can read your sources, answer with context, generate artifacts, and help you move from “I have a lot of material” to “I know what to do next.”
OpenCairn is still early, but the direction is clear: open-source, source-grounded, multi-LLM friendly, and built for real personal and team workflows.
I’d love feedback from people who manage lots of notes, documents, research, or internal knowledge.
