Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I built Online Compass because I was frustrated. Every compass app on the App Store and Play Store was either:
- Bloated with ads that covered half the screen
- Required an account just to see which way is North
- Tracked my location and sold it to data brokers
- Took 200MB of storage for something my browser can do natively
So I asked myself: why can't a compass just... work? In a browser tab?
That question turned into Online Compass — a collection of 5 specialized navigation tools that run entirely in your browser using your phone's built-in sensors (magnetometer, accelerometer, gyroscope, GPS).
What makes it special:
🔒 Privacy-first: Your coordinates are computed locally in JavaScript and never sent to any server. Open DevTools → Network tab and verify it yourself.
🌍 True North correction: Unlike most compass apps that show raw magnetic heading, we automatically apply the 2025 World Magnetic Model declination for your exact GPS position. This matters — in some cities, Magnetic North is 20° off from True North.
🕋 Purpose-built tools: The Qibla Finder uses great-circle mathematics (not flat-map approximation) to compute the exact bearing to the Kaaba. The Vastu Compass overlays all 16 zones of the Vastu Purusha Mandala with room-placement guidance.
🌐 30+ languages: Hindi, Arabic, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and more — because navigation is universal.
