You kicked off a big Claude Code task. It's gonna take a while. You open YouTube. Five minutes later, you realize Claude finished three minutes ago and has been waiting for you to approve a file write. Okan fixes this. She sits quietly in the corner of your browser. When Claude finishes, she yells. When Claude needs permission, she asks you right there -- no terminal switching needed. Like a Japanese mom who lets you play but always calls you back for dinner.
Hey PH! 👋
I built Okan because I kept missing Claude Code's "done" moment.
You know the drill: kick off a big AI task, switch to YouTube "just for a sec"... then 10 minutes later you realize Claude finished ages ago and has been patiently waiting for you to approve a file write. Classic.
So I built a Japanese mom(OKAN) for your terminal. She watches Claude work, and when it's done — she yells at you. Right on your browser. No tab switching needed.
The best part? If Claude asks permission (Y/N), the prompt pops up on your browser. You click OK without ever leaving your video. Mom handles the rest.
There are 3 personality modes:
🙂 Gentle — "All done, honey!"
👩 Classic — "Dinner's ready!"
🔥 Mom — "STOP WATCHING! IT'S DONE!" (she starts shaking if you ignore her for 5 seconds)
It's fully open source, 100% local (nothing leaves your machine), and takes 30 seconds to set up.
(Chrome Extension is currently under review by Google)
Would love to hear what personality mode you'd pick 😄
Hey Takahito, that scenario of kicking off a task, switching to YouTube for just a sec, and then realizing 10 minutes later Claude has been waiting for you is too real. Was there a specific time where you came back way too late and realized you’d wasted a ton of time just because you missed the done moment?

Who hunted Okan?
Okan was hunted by Takahito Yoneda. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
