Your reply to Bob about the registrar's auction partner listing it first is the part most people learn the expensive way. Flipping it around though: I run a business on about a dozen small sending domains, and the failure I actually worry about is one of MINE quietly lapsing or having its DNS changed under me. Am I correct that there is nothing to present two, or more, people from signing up for monitoring the exact same name? If so, I presume they would each get the same information according to their notification preferences?

the harder problem here feels like the race, not the detection. if a domain is desirable enough that you're watching it, other domainers and sniping services are probably watching the same signals too. once notify.domains fires the alert, is there still a real window to act, or does it come down to who has the fastest registrar API hooked up at that point?
