NotchPrompter is a free, open-source teleprompter for macOS. It stays always on top of your windows but remains invisible to screen recording apps (like Zoom or OBS) allowing you to read your script while your audience sees a clean screen. Features: - Recording-Friendly: Hidden from screen captures. - Voice Activation: Hands-free scrolling. - Fully Customizable: Adjust speed, font, and size. - Minimalist: Lightweight and multi-monitor ready. Get it for free on the App Store or GitHub!
Winter started exceptionally early this year, and during one of those first snowy weekends, I finally sat down to do something I've wanted for years, build my own app for macOS. After countless failed recording, and clunky tripod with iPhone setups behind my monitor, NotchPrompter is finally here.
I'm honestly terrible at recording videos - I constantly forget my lines and lose eye contact with the camera. I tried iPhone, but the constant copy-pasting and awkward hardware setups felt too tedious. I just wanted a native, super simple solution that just works.
The app is designed to sit right in the notch of your MacBook (or the top of any screen) to help you maintain natural eye contact. My goal is for NotchPrompter to one day be as polished and beloved as shottr.cc, which has been a huge inspiration for me.
The app is free and open-source. Since I’m primarily a Java developer, it would be awesome to get some pointers or a helping hand from more experienced Swift developers!
