Notchly
Turn your Android notch into a shortcut and control hub
Notchly transforms your Android notch into an interactive space for everyday actions. Use gestures to launch apps, open contacts, control music, take quick notes, access clipboard history, and run a floating teleprompter without interrupting what you're doing. Customize the notch ring, gestures, size, position, and appearance to match your device. Built to make common tasks faster while keeping the experience lightweight and private.
I built Notchly after looking at the camera cutout on my phone and thinking: this space could do much more than just sit there.
Notchly turns the notch area into an interactive shortcut and control hub. With simple gestures, you can launch apps, open contacts, control music, save quick notes, access clipboard history, use a floating teleprompter, and trigger useful actions without interrupting what you're doing.
I also wanted the experience to feel personal, so users can adjust the notch ring's size, position, shape, appearance, and gesture behavior to better match their device.
This has been an independent project, built through many iterations, device-specific fixes, and feedback from Android users. My goal is not to copy an existing interaction, but to turn an unused part of the screen into something practical for everyday use.
I'd love to hear:
• Which Notchly feature would be most useful to you? • What action would you want to trigger from your phone's notch? • How could I make the onboarding or customization experience better?
Thank you for checking out Notchly! Your feedback would genuinely help me shape what comes next. 🚀
Love the idea of putting the notch to actual use, especially the floating teleprompter for calls. One thing I'd love to see is a per-app gesture profile, so I can set one ring swipes up to open Spotify when I'm in the car, but switch to launching my notes app when I'm at my desk. That would make it feel truly personalized to what I'm doing.
Finally someone made the notch useful. The floating teleprompter tucked into the cutout is a clever touch, especially for video calls where I can keep notes without anyone noticing.
Honestly this is a pretty clever use of the notch, the floating teleprompter thing actually works smoothly when I tried it during a call. Wish the gesture customization was a bit more intuitive but overall kind of impressed.
