niltimer pairs a Pomodoro timer, Kanban board, and live friends timeline, all in one tab. Add your tasks, hit Start, and work for 25 minutes. When the session ends, drag the task to Done, your friends see it happen in real time. The timer keeps ticking even if you switch tabs, refresh, or swap devices. Your streak grows with every session you complete. Solo productivity tools are everywhere. niltimer adds the one thing they all leave out: someone who knows you're working.
I built niltimer because I kept failing at Pomodoro, not because the technique doesn't work, but because I'd start the timer without knowing what to work on, or I'd know what to work on but forget to start the timer.
The fix was obvious in hindsight: put the Kanban board and the timer in the same place. One tab, no switching. But the thing that actually made me stick with it was adding friends.
I noticed that seeing a friend complete a session at 9am made me want to start mine. Not out of guilt,.just a quiet nudge. The kind you get working in a café next to someone who's clearly in the zone.
So I built the friends timeline. When you finish a task or complete a Pomodoro, it shows up in your friends' feed in real time. No likes, no comments, just the signal that someone is working.
A few things I'm proud of: - The timer persists across tabs, refreshes, and devices, your session is never lost - The Kanban is genuinely dead-simple: Todo → Doing → Done - It's free, no credit card, one click to start
Would love to hear how you use it and what's missing. Happy to answer anything!
