Hey Product Hunt, Felipe here, maker of MTL Exits 👋
I built MTL Exits around a small but surprisingly frustrating transit problem: a route planner can get you to the correct station and still leave you at the wrong end of a long platform.
With MTL Exits, you choose your departure, destination and, where available, the street exit you want. The app then shows the route, train direction, car and door to aim for, plus transfer positioning and guidance from the point where you entered the platform.
It’s free, works in English and French, needs no account, and keeps core route and exit guidance available offline after installation.
MTL Exits is made specifically for Montréal today. But the problem is obviously much bigger than Montréal. New York has long had Exit Strategy, Citymapper offers its “Best Section” feature in several cities, and Tokyo riders have access to detailed boarding-position and exit guidance.
That’s the part I’m most curious about on Product Hunt:
What app, if any, solves this in your city? And which metro should be next?
I’d also love to hear from people who know their local station layouts, work with open transit data, or might be interested in helping validate an exit-aware experience for another city.
For Montréal riders, the most useful feedback is very practical: try a real route and tell me whether the car, door, direction, and exit result is immediately understandable, and whether anything is wrong.
