I run MyGymDesk, a gym & studio management platform in India. Payroll kept coming up as a problem our customers had — and not only the gyms.
A salon owner pays stylists on commission. A clinic pays doctors by session. A restaurant runs shifts. Every one of them was exporting attendance to Excel, working out commissions by hand, guessing at PF and ESI, and paying a CA to check the arithmetic.
Generic HR software is built for offices with fixed salaries. It doesn't understand attendance that arrives from a punch, or a commission structure that's different for every person.
