Hunted byOleg KirichkoOleg Kirichko

As a lifelong fan of strategic card-based word games, I have always loved the mechanics of Quiddler. But I wanted a version I could play instantly with friends or students online without any of the typical modern mobile game bloat - no mandatory accounts, no daily play limits, and zero ad breaks. LetterMash takes that classic, escalating 8-round card-drafting strategy and streamlines it into a fast, real-time browser challenge.

As an English teacher and developer, I’ve always been obsessed with the strategy and mechanics of words. One of my absolute favorite tabletop card games is Quiddler - I love the rummy-style hand-building, the escalating rounds, and the tactical push-and-pull of holding out for the perfect high-scoring word. I wanted to bring that exact strategic depth to the web, but modernised for fast, real-time play. If you try to play a word game online today, you are often bombarded with 30-second unskippable ads, forced to register an account, hit with "daily energy limits," or tracked across the web. It completely ruins the flow of a good game. I built LetterMash to be the exact opposite. What makes it stand out? Pure strategic gameplay: Played over 8 fixed rounds, you draft, arrange, and mash letters to score maximum points, while competing for "longest word" and "most words" bonuses. Zero friction: No accounts, no sign-ups, and absolutely no ads. Just pure, uninterrupted gameplay. Instant multiplayer: Want to duel a friend? Just spin up a private lobby, share the 6-digit room code, and start playing in seconds. Intelligent bots: No one online? Challenge our custom-built AI bots across three difficulty levels (Easy, Medium, or Hard) to test your vocabulary. As a systems developer, I wanted this to run like a dream. I built LetterMash to be lightweight, fast and responsive. LetterMash is live and completely free to play today! Grab a friend, share a lobby code, or see if you can take down the Hard bot. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the game pacing, the bot difficulty, and the overall UI. Have fun mashing!

Love that you kept it pure without the usual mobile game nonsense. One thing that would really help: a built-in dictionary validation tool during gameplay so players can verify disputed words in real time without leaving the round. Could just be a quick toggle against a standard Scrabble word list so arguments dont slow down the pace.

The decision to skip accounts and ads keeps the focus on the actual card play, which feels rare and respectful of the player. Nice execution on capturing that Quiddler feel in a browser.

the no-account, no-ads choice is honestly what makes this stand out, you basically just click and play which is kind of rare these days. love that you kept the escalating 8-round structure intact too
