Hey Product Hunt
I built Kleer Ledger because I kept opening my banking app, seeing a charge like BK 20760 ROOSENDAAL NL, and having no idea whether it was a lunch, a toll, or fraud. Banks show you the payment processor's string, not what you actually bought.
Kleer Ledger sits on top of your bank data (read-only, through Plaid) and lets you write your own title on any transaction. "Airport lunch, Tuesday." "Printer ink for the office." Then you can search your own words instead of guessing at merchant codes.
Two things I was strict about:
1. The bank's record never changes. Your label is stored beside the original description, never over it. If you ever need to dispute a charge or hand a statement to an accountant, the official text is exactly as the bank wrote it.
2. Read-only. Kleer Ledger can read transactions. It cannot move money.
The part people don't expect: once your spending is labeled, it can tell you which of your credit cards to use before you pay. Add your cards, say "I'm at a restaurant", and it names the one with the best rate, then logs it so you can see the rewards you earned and the ones you missed.
