What inspired me to build K9Wash.com?
As a dog owner, I found it surprisingly difficult to locate self-service dog wash stations. After muddy forest walks, trips to the beach or travelling to unfamiliar areas, I'd often spend far too long searching Google Maps, Facebook pages and individual business websites, only to discover there wasn't one place that brought everything together.
I realised there were hundreds of great dog wash locations, but they were incredibly difficult to discover. That's when I decided to build K9Wash a dedicated platform that makes finding a self-service dog wash as easy as finding a petrol station or coffee shop.
What started as a UK directory has quickly grown into a much bigger vision. Today, K9Wash includes locations across multiple European countries, with many more being added as we continue to expand.
The biggest problem was discoverability.
Dog owners shouldn't have to search multiple websites or hope Google happens to know about the nearest dog wash. Many facilities aren't well advertised online, and some don't even appear on mapping services.
K9Wash solves that by bringing self-service dog washes together on one interactive map. Users can quickly search nearby locations, compare facilities and get directions in seconds, whether they're at home or travelling across Europe.
We're also helping businesses that operate dog washes. Many independent operators have little online presence, so K9Wash gives them another way to be discovered by people actively looking for their services.
The launch isn't the finish line, it's only the foundation. The long-term vision is to build the world's most comprehensive directory of self-service pet wash stations and make travelling with dogs easier wherever the journey takes you.
Love that the map filters actually make sense — being able to see only stations with warm water or pro equipment saves a ton of guesswork on a muddy Sunday walk. Solid execution for a niche that clearly needed this.
Finally a directory that actually covers UK and EU in one place, the map view made it easy to spot a wash near my sister's place in Germany I'd never have found otherwise.
Would love to see reviews from actual dog owners about water pressure and cleanliness at each station, since some self-service washes can be hit or miss. A simple rating plus a quick comment section would help me decide which spot is actually worth the drive before packing my muddy labradoodle into the car.
Finally a map of these places, been googling random towns trying to find one. Tried the app on a drive through Kent and it pulled up three spots I never knew existed.
