Hey! I'm Gabrielle, and I built Inkbound because I kept losing track of my own novel. My chapters lived in Google Docs, my characters in a spreadsheet, my world notes in a notebook, and I'd lose ten minutes every session just finding the right tab.
I tried Scrivener first. It's powerful, but I found myself avoiding it because opening the app felt heavier than just sitting down to write. Word and Docs are easy to open but weren't built for a 300-page manuscript with forty characters to keep straight.
So I started building something narrower: chapters, characters, and world all in one screen, in the browser, nothing to install. The feature that changed things most wasn't part of the original plan. I kept re-reading my own chapters just to remember a character's eye color, so I added AI that reads your manuscript and fills in the character sheet for you. The same idea led to the style assistant (catches repetitions and weak verbs as you type) and voice dictation, since I wanted to be able to draft while walking, which is still almost impossible with most writing tools.
It's a solo project. Free for one project forever, and Premium is a one-time $20, never a subscription, that part matters more to me than it probably should. Happy to answer anything about how it works, or what's still missing (no offline mode yet, for one).

@gabrielle_dorval_inkbound I have some book ideas in me, but never considered myself a writer, may be a tool like this will give me the confidence to put my thoughts/ideas into words. I'm not a fan of subscriptions either, so I love the single payment model. Best of luck with today's launch.
oh man, the AI dictation part might be my savior. i've tried voice notes before but they always end up messy, just scribbles in a digital notepad. might give this a go when i start my next project, but knowing me, i'll probably just go back to scribbling on my hand.
